"Hidden from the street and accessed down a little lane," this house is a "historic fantasy home," according to the listing, but it's probably not always shrouded in a magical blue haze. The listing also says the two bedroom, two and three-quarter bathroom was built by H. Everett McElroy in 1929 with "hand crafted features throughout as well as a turret." Apparently McElroy was a set-builder for 20th Century Fox who with his wife bought land at the artificial Lake Santa Ynez off of Sunset Boulevard, and built "a European-inspired mill house with a working water wheel...a reproduction of a 16th-century Dutch windmill and a landing for [their] houseboat." This house in mid-city was last sold in 2005 for $540,000, and it's been on and off the market since 2008. It's now listed as a short sale at $475,000.
