LAist.com spotted signage for the new Trader Joe's going into 1600 Vine, the new apartment complex that butts up against the new W Hollywood. A leasing rep for 1600 Vine says that the grocery store is scheduled to open June 1st. In other grocery store related news, Hows grocery store at 5300 Lankershim Blvd. is shutting down imminently, reports Chowhound. Hows didn't exactly sit below residences like the Trader Joe's will, but it aimed to serve the burgeoning area near two transit lines. And while located near numerous apartments and new developments like NoHo14, it suffered from bad placement. As Chowhound puts it, the "storefront faced a side street, people would drive by on Lankershim and see the signs but not the store and had no idea where to park."
