Parking Garage Plan Moves Forward

New, 9 comments

The plan to privatize ten parking garages for the next 50 years took a step forward last night when the City Council's Budget & Finance Committee voted to authorize the development of a request for proposals, reports LAist.com. As the Times reported over the weekend, the Mayor previously considered such a plan, but backed down given the "political backlash that occurred in Chicago after that city auctioned off garages and meters, driving up parking rates." Under this plan, parking rates at garages are expected to rise. [LAist.com, LAT]
