This section of La Brea Ave, just blocks from the end of the touristy-section of Hollywood Blvd, has seen one big project rise--the yet-to-finish Madrone development--and now it may be getting another building. Proposed for right across the street from Madrone, at the corner of La Brea Ave and Hawthorne Blvd and replacing two commercial buildings (one of which is already fenced off), this 56-unit condo building with 9,000 square feet of commercial space was approved yesterday (and on consent) by the Planning and Land Use Committee, the city committee that's one step away from the City Council. The owner is listed as La Brea Regency, LLC, but a representative for the development didn't immediately return calls, nor is it immediately clear who the architect. In other words, we really know very little about this development other than the fact that the city wants this project. And so the Madrone will a new friend in the neighborhood.
