A trove of Frank Lloyd Wright material, including photos of Wright structures that have since been destroyed, were auctioned off Sunday here in LA, reports the AP via the San Jose Mercury-News. The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation purchased the materials, paying $48,800 for what was thought to fetch around $25,000. "The material was assembled for 'In the Nature of Materials,' a 1942 treatise co-authored by Wright and [architectural historian] Henry Russell Hitchcock. It contains photos of Wright buildings that no longer exist, including his home and the demolished Imperial Hotel in Tokyo (pictured)." [Mercury-News]
