L.A. Confidential, shot in Richard Neutra's Lovell home
The Los Angeles Times sits down with Cathy Whitlock, author of "Designs On Film: A Century of Hollywood Art Direction," a book which looks at the history of art direction and set design. As for her own Whitlock likes the "clean lines and sleek look of Cameron Diaz's Wallace Neff house in "The Holiday" (2006)," and picks Jean Harlow's white bed in "Dinner at Eight" as the piece of movie furniture "to die for." She also talks about ill-conceived design trends, such as "Cleopatra"'s popularization of Egyptian Art Deco.
