John Mayer's House of Blues in the Pacific Palisades

New, 16 comments

When we came across this listing for a contemporary in Pacific Palisades, our initial take was that it seemed to be intentionally going for a bit of a haunted vibe with its gauzy drapes and ghostly dinner table, its bare mattress under creepy spotlights, its abundance of mirrors that calls to mind a certain horror movie cliche. And of course, there's the melancholy-inducing disco ball in broad daylight. Then it came to our attention via the Real Estalker that this strange abode belongs to none other than Twittering troubadour John Mayer, and suddenly its trappings and affectations made a lot more sense (except maybe that framed Lolita poster). According to Redfin and Mama, the thirty-three-old neo-bluesman purchased the house in June of 2006 for $1.75 million, but is now listing it at $1.325 million, below comps at $363 per square foot. Built in 1974, the 3,648-square-foot property features four bedrooms, 2.75 baths, a fireplace, custom built-ins, and access to "community playing courts and pool." No mention whether the disco ball will be included in the sale.
