LA's Store of Death on Life Support

New, 3 comments

The kitschy little store in the LA County coroner's office has fallen on hard times, reports the New York Times. Selling things like body bags, toe tags, and crime scene tape, the downtown store--called Skeletons in the Closet--has seen its sales tumble in the last few years and some are worried the LA oddity may shut down. Adventuresome tourists still frequent the place, but some complain that the merchandise hasn't much changed since the store opened in a literal closet about 20 years ago. Manager Edna Pereyda is brainstorming new ideas and plans to bring in water bottles labeled as "bodily fluids." [NY Times]
