MOCA's Mistake

New, 9 comments

The LA Times explains why MOCA quickly erased all evidence last week of an hours-old mural it had commissioned for the side of the Geffen Contemporary (the story made it to the New York Times). Turns out "MOCA had no clear idea what the artist would paint before he painted it," and Director Jeffrey Deitch returned from Art Basel to find images of coffins draped in dollar bills facing a Veterans Administration building and a monument to Japanese American World War II soldiers.
