Long-Gone Winged Creature Returns to Downtown

New, 37 comments

LAObserved has a happy story for you: a local Arts District man has salvaged one of the 1.5 ton angels that were once affixed to the now-demolished Richfield Building at 6th and Flower. J. Eric Lynxwiler, who co-wrote the book "Wilshire Boulevard: Grand Concourse of Los Angeles" with LAO's Kevin Roderick, purchased the terra-cotta angel from an Orange County couple, which will now guard Lynxwiler's loft. The OC couple bought it after the Richfield was torn down to make way for a skyscraper in 1968. There were once 40 of these handsome guys--four now live at UC Santa Barbara--but it's a mystery as to where most of them are now.
