After "Santa Monicans for Quality Government (SMQG)," a group which included real estate developers Hines and NMS Properties, sent out mailers backing Sana Monica City Council candidates the city is considering "tightening its campaign finance disclosure rules," reports the Santa Monica Daily Press. "The group, which is registered with the California Secretary of State's Office, maintained it was not required to file statements with City Hall. It could have more donors who have not yet been disclosed." [SMDP]
