It's 179 old-growth trees versus 500,000 cubic yards of Santa Anita Dam sediment--the two parties are going head to head in an Arcadia DeathMatch. Locals want to stop LA County from clearing 11.3 acres of native oak woodland to make room for sediment that has to be dredged out of the dam, but the Department of Public Works says an environmental impact report has already made its way through the proper channels. A spokesperson tells the San Gabriel Valley Tribune "We have the sediment and now we have to find a place for it." [SGVT]
