The listing copy for this Mediterranean in Laurel Canyon refers to it as the DeWitt Residence, but it also should be pointed out that property records reveal the owner as Daniel Laikin. For those unfamiliar with the name, Mr. Laikin is the former CEO of entertainment company National Lampoon Inc (behind "Animal House" and "Vacation" franchise), who was sentenced in September to a forty-five month vacation in the clink after pleading guilty to securities fraud. Built in 1926, the three-acre estate features marble floors, stained glass windows, media and billiard rooms, five fireplaces, a pool with a grotto, and not one, but two detached guest houses. An additional selling point was noted by the prosecuting attorney in Laikin's case: apparently the mansion served as a shooting location for ABC's reality show "The Bachelor." Purchased for $4.5 million in 2004, it's now listed at $7.995 million. Virtual tour can be found here.
