At the LA Auto Show today Mayor Villaraigosa announced that the city is "streamlining the process to get set-up with home [electric vehicle] charging kits in under seven days, from permit to plug-in." To make EV adoption as palatable as possible, the LADWP will offer discounted energy rates for overnight EV charging and launch an EV Customer Connect help line on December 1. The city plans to use federal cash to provide $2,500 subsidies for up to 5,000 home charging stations. [LAT]
