A fancy new fountain near Figueroa and San Fernando Road hails the eventual arrival of Confluence Park "near the spot where the Los Angeles River and the Arroyo Seco meet," reports the Eastsider LA. The fountain, which cost $800,000 and shoots columns of water into the air, is on a test run and should start operating regularly in early 2011. The Santa Monica Recreation & Conservation Authority calls it an "iconic gateway" to Cypress Park. [Eastsider LA]
