When it comes to city hall and real estate development, the most powerful lobbyist in LA is probably attorney Benjamin Reznik, who works at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell. This week, Reznik, who has represented everyone from Orsiniville's Geoffrey Palmer to Kilroy Realty (in that Bundy Village fight), takes to the pages of LABJ, calling for the reform of area planning commissions. There is no "training program for its commissioners," nor does the city provide legal counsel at the meetings, a misstep that can only lead to more lawsuits against the city, believes Reznik, who recently won a lawsuit against the city over the parking situation at Brentwood restaurant Fig & Olive.
