DOWNTOWN: Just another nippy, snow-filled day along 4th Street in downtown. Look how cold the woman is-- she's all bundled up, looking for money so she can hail a cab. Yes, this is the wintery-looking site is nothing more than a Target commercial (corporate). They were filming in downtown yesterday. A TV friend once told us the hard part about pretending to create cold weather is the fact that the actors don't emit frosty breath, which some viewers will catch on to. [Curbed Staff]

LOS ANGELES: Looking to win some money, status? AIA|LA has just announced the call for entries for the "Arch Is" competition. Only in its sophomore year, "Arch Is" awards young architects and designers. Participants should be out of school no less than 5 years and no more than 12 years and reside in the state of CA.
