Today, councilman Bernard Parks proposed an ordinance to extend the limits on smoking to include a ban on "indoor and outdoor businesses, parks, apartment common areas and beaches," reports NBC4. It would ban smoking in all "all public areas and common areas where people congregate." The city attorney will now draft the ordinance's wording. In January, the council passed a smoking ban on outdoor eating establishments, while Santa Monica already has an expansive ban, and West Hollywood is mulling 86ing outdoor restaurant/bar smoking.
