The Fendi-designed model unit; two reported residents of the building
When the Carlyle on Wilshire, that 78-unit Elad Properties development on Wilshire Boulevard, opened for sales, the luxury tower was notable for its "nanny" condos, the Dale Chihuly in the lobby, and the news that Bruce Willis and Larry King supposedly purchased in the building. Fast forward to the holiday 2010 season, and how's old friend Carlyle doing? We don't know Willis' plans for Thanksgiving, but facing what must be a still-slow luxury market, Elad Properties is now offering select units for rent. Prices range from $8,000-$12,000 a month for a two-bedroom, and $12,000-$20,000 for a three-bedroom. One of the penthouses is asking $29,000, a price which just about rivals the penthouse at CIM Group's Sunset Vine tower, still available for $25,000 a month.). All rents at the Carlyle go towards the purchase price of a unit, if desired, according to the sale rep for the building. And the the Carlyle Wilshire building is now half occupied, according to the rep (Elad doesn't break down specific sales figures).
