Vegas Paper: Fast Trains Stink

New, 16 comments

More fiscal conservatism: The Las Vegas Review-Journal published an editorial yesterday saying any high-speed rail proposal to their city is too expensive to consider. The piece justifies its logic with quotes from Cato Institute fellow Randal O'Toole, who recently wrote in USA Today that, "We can't afford the luxury of high-speed rail." The LVRJ editorial also critiques an estimate from the California High-Speed Rail Authority predicting 98 percent of its customers will shift from driving or flying ("New customers? Where?" the paper asks). Guess the LVRJ sees no benefit in unclogging that wretched 15. [LVRJ]
