Harbinger of things to come in California? Facing cost overruns of perhaps $5 billion, as well as a near-bankrupt transportation fund--which pays for street repairs and transit service--NJ's governor killed a train tunnel project, decades in the making, from NJ to NYC, reports the Star-Ledger. A whopping $600 million had already been spent on the project; tunnel supporters like Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), say canceling it is "not just bad transportation policy – it’s bad fiscal policy."
