Yesterday morning Fox and Friends reported that Los Angeles had ordered 10,000 jetpacks at $100,000 a pop. Co-host Gretchen Carlson asked "states--do they have $100,000?" and co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out "You gotta make up some rules, because you could have jetpacks flying into choppers!" According to Gawker, the story was first published in the Weekly World News, which quoted Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa saying "We’ll all be flying around L.A. soon." The WWN also reported that "The LAPD is in the process of hiring over 1,000 Law Enforcement Jet Pack Officers. They have begun training them out near Joshua Tree National Park." LAPD Chief Charlie Beck tells the LAT "We certainly haven't bought any jetpacks...We haven't bought [squad] cars for two years." Video at Gawker.
