Carole Lombard's Hollywood Bachelorette Pad

New, 32 comments

Today's lineup on Turner Classic Movies tips us off to the fact that it's Carole Lombard's birthday. Born 102 years ago, the star of screwball comedy classics such as My Man Godfrey and Twentieth Century was married to Thin Man star William Powell, then to Clark Gable. In 1934, following her divorce from Powell, Lombard moved into a Dutch-style home on Hollywood Boulevard and hired her pal Billy Haines to decorate. That home is now available for lease, though sadly, Haines' custom-designed furniture--we especially covet the oversize, tufted daybed--does not come with it. Monthly rent for the property, which features four bedrooms, three baths, wood floors, fireplaces, and a guest house, is $5,800.
