The bike blog of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, launched a new Google parking map showing where bike racks are across the city. The bigger news may be that in announcing the map, the blog states 450 new bike racks have been installed since July 2009, with a citywide total of 3,600. A new round of installation begins soon, with 100 new racks going up every month and the map updated accordingly. Locals and business owners can request bike racks for their business or neighborhood from the LADOT, but the department warns of a waiting list, so patience required.
