Even amid all the turmoil surrounding Billy the elephant, he is getting some lady friends soon--it was announced today that the San Diego Zoo will loan two females to the Los Angeles Zoo's Elephants of Asia exhibit, which opens in December. Tina and Jewel are ex-circus performers who were removed from their Texas home 14 months ago by order of the US Department of Agriculture. The gals are thought to be in their mid-forties and Jewel has gained 1,100 pounds since arriving in San Diego. [LAT, image via]
