The Associated Press reports that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's office shut down a homeless encampment in the Hollywood Hills today, a place where a "dozen homeless people living in the ramshackle bivouac on county-owned land. The deputy says homeless people were using neighborhood swimming pools and spas to bathe, stoked campfires to cook food and stay warm and littered the area with tents, tarps, trash and human waste." KTLA has a photo and reports the hillside is next to the Highland Avenue exit from the southbound 101 Freeway. According to the AP, the group was warned the site would be shut down. [Mercury News]
