The Daily News covers an ambitious plan to create an expansive River Walk along a mile-long stretch of Glendale, Glassell Park, Atwater Village and Cypress Park. The community redevelopment agency (CRA) recently received a HUD $2.25 million grant to fund a study for redeveloping the area. What Shirley Backlar, of the Friends of the LA River group says: "That one is like the Holy Grail of river projects because the concrete (river bottom) could be taken out. There could really be some wonderful wetlands restoration done." Would any high-speed rail come through here? Not clear. [Daily News]
