North Atwater Park Expansion On Its Merry Way

New, 1 comment

The greening of the LA River and its environs moves along little by little--Thursday is the groundbreaking for the North Atwater Park Expansion and Creek Restoration project, reports L.A. Creek Freak. The current park, on Chevy Chase Drive, is sort of sad but the spot will soon be improved with more eating and play areas, as well as expanded with over an acre of added green space that includes new shrubs and trees. Maybe most importantly, the work will restore the banks of a creek that flows into the LA River by adding a trash-catching device and new vegetation that will treat over 40 acres of runoff from the vicinity. It may be a bit longer before you can dust off your kayak though.
