LAX is undergoing numerous improvements, and if you've been following the battle over concessions at the airport, you know that this week the City Council approved new concession operators. And here's what is coming to the airport. Via the Daily Breeze: "Three food and beverage contracts were awarded to Miami-based Areas USA, which plans to open a variety of restaurants at the airport, including Sammy's Woodfired Pizza, gang-intervention eatery Homegirl Cafe, downtown Los Angeles steakhouse Engine Co. 28 and Culver City-based gastropub Ford's Filling Station....A single dining contract was awarded to a joint venture of THS Marbella Food Services and Delaware North Cos., which plan to open eateries operated by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and "Iron Chef" Masaharu Morimoto." Additionally, retail contracts were handed out, and stores Hugo Boss, NBC Universal, Mattel, Ed Hardy, See's Candies outlets, and a XpresSpa are among those shops that will open up. Some of the new restaurants and stores will open by next summer, according to Gina Marie Lindsey, executive director of LAX.
