Iowa to LA, Maybe

New, 2 comments

A group of volunteers is looking to turn the USS Iowa, a 887-foot-long warship commissioned in 1943 for World War II, into a museum that would be docked off LA, reports the Daily Breeze. "The ship, built in the early 1940s at a cost of $100 million, is now tied up with the mothballed fleet in Suisun Bay near San Francisco." Studies, grants, and more are first needed, and before you dismiss the idea of a floating warship, check out the Intrepid outdoor movie series launched in NYC. Hot stuff! [Daily Breeze]
