Harder to Find 2-Hour Massages: Road Spam Ban Passes

New, 16 comments

Those mini-billboards aka sandwich boards on wheels that sometimes advertise new condos or various services may soon be a thing of the past, reports the Ban Billboard Blight blog. This week, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill that gives cities the right to ban such signs. Now it will be up to LA to ban the mobile boards and enforce (ahem) the code. And "at least one operator has promised to sue to stop what he calls an infringement upon his company’s constitutional rights." Co-sponsoring this bill was Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield (D-San Fernando Valley), who calls the ads "road spam" in an undated video on BBB. "What we have happening in the San Fernando Valley is blight," he says. Not only do the trailers take up parking, but "it's a safety issue...cars have to swerve around them," he says.
