LOS ANGELES: On October 10, the day that would have been Julius Shulman's 100th birthday, the MAK Center is dedicating its architecture tour to the photographer who helped make SoCal's modern architecture famous. They're throwing open the doors to Richard Neutra's Kun and Lovell Houses, Rudolph Schindler's Gold House, Carl Louis Maston's Hillside House, Pierre Koenig's Gantert House, and Shulman's own Raphael Soriano. BURBANK: If your dirt pile is neat, you shouldn't have any problem finding a place to store it. A reader asks: "I wonder if you guys know anything about a huge, meticulously shaped pile of dirt beside the 134 freeway in Burbank, kind of across the freeway from the equestrian center? Is it toxic? Are they building something? Or did they just need a place to store it?" [Curbed Inbox]
