Take in the latest photos of the Pugh + Scarpa-designed Cherokee project, that 12-unit development on Fairfax Blvd (right above Melrose) that'll be finished in just a few weeks, according to Steve Edwards, principal at ReThink Development, the Culver City-based developer on the project. Last month, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded local firm Pugh + Scarpa the 2010 AIA Architecture Firm Award for the firm's work over the last 30 plus year.
Some more tidbits about the project:
The ground-floor retail space: The developer has a letter of intent from well-known wall and floor coverings company Erin Adams Design (nice to see a local company moving in--and not a Subway or a T Mobile store.) If the deal goes through, the company would take up the whole ground-floor retail space.
The scaffolding: The street level scaffolding is part of work on the first-ever storm water infiltration system in a public rightway in Los Angeles, work which required the sign-off of the City Council, according to Edwards. The city does the job, but ReThink pays for the work and is allowed to ultimately landscape the sidewalk anyway it chooses.
Prices: We announced the prices previously; they haven't changed. A full-blown marketing effort will start in the new few weeks.
