Against the wishes of some WeHoans, Santa Monica Boulevard is getting taller: the five-story Sierra Bonita apartment complex has just about wrapped up construction. There's 42 one-bedroom apartments for the disabled, an outdoor courtyard garden on the second floor, a rooftop garden, environmentally-friendly touches added by project architect Patrick Tighe, and bottom-floor office space for the West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation. And get this: only 29 parking spots (underground), which considering where you stand, is either the dawn of a new LA day, or the first sign of apocalypse. As we see in Hollywood, parking structures are now getting swathed in retail.
