With Dubai's traffic costing the city $1.4 billion a year, the LA Times reports the city unveiled its mass-transit rail system today. "The $7.6-billion automatic rail system, under construction since 2005 and 80% over budget, made its inaugural journey today with several hundred contest winners as passengers, local media reported." Dubai is focusing on the luxury market: There are special, more expensive VIP cars, which cost seven times the cheapest ticket, according to the Times. [LA Times]
