Tough Week for Culver City

New, 6 comments

Back in August, the Culver City City Council decreed a 45-day temporary moratorium on the drilling, redrilling or deepening of any oil wells, a move meant to allow the city to re-examine its oil/ gas operations, reports the Culver City Observer. The oil companies are not pleased. "John Martini representing Plains Exploration Development Company (PXP) appeared before council to announce that PXP had filed three applications for new oil wells and to complain that “the City has no justification in extending the moratorium on oil drilling.” Lawsuits over the moratorium may be coming. Also, parking fees will rise from $50 cents to a $1/per hour. [Culver City Observer]
