Spanish courtyard apartments from the 1920s are our Kryptonite - they immediately weaken our defenses. This one doesn't have the recognized historic pedigree of some other courtyard apartments we've looked at before (like Villa D'este, or Casa Laguna or El Cabrillo) but it also doesn't have the same price tag. And it's not far from Scoops (so long as you're willing to cross the 101 for your gelato). The unit available is a lower corner one-bedroom, one-bath and features "hardwood floors, arches, coved ceilings, art deco pink tiles, a bath and a shower, antique wall sconces, a service porch, a back door, a WASHER & DRYER ARE INCLUDED." The pics, however, are not for the unit available but a similar one. The listing tells us the main difference is the doors in the unit for rent are actually painted white rather than stained. Monthly rent: $1495. Still a bit pricey for the neighborhood, no?
