Rios Clementi Hale Studios Already In the Streets

New, 4 comments

Rios Clementi Hale Studios, the firm behind the forthcoming Grand Ave Civic Park have set up shop at 639 N. Larchmont Blvd, signaling that, yes, it's the day when architects, design freaks and everyone else nerds out over parking by taking over the streets. We'll be posting photos of PARK (ing) Day later, so send in images to la@curbed.com if you want to be featured. And of course, come say hello.

Via RCHS: PARK[ing] Day, we wanted to consider the spatial possibilities that are available in the three-dimensional volume of a standard parking stall. Using some party streamers and PVC pipe we had on hand, we created a playful structure that provides just enough shade and screening to enjoy the curbside space. Opening the room on two sides makes it open and inviting to the sidewalk and pedestrians. It will be the perfect spot to enjoy a refreshing lemonade outside on a sunny afternoon.
