Smelly Mounds Bound for Echo Park Lake?

New, 6 comments

Eastsider LA is tracking the the forthcoming big Echo Park Lake clean up, an $84 million drain and cleaning of the lake (among other things, the cleaning will help water quality). But the blog reports that neighbors may anticipate seeing big piles of dirt, as well as traffic caused by all those dirt-trucking vehicles. And odor, given that the "smelly dirt is hauled out of Echo Park Lake some of it must be left outside to dry in giant piles - for one to two months." But the question begs: Art project? Affordable housing for moles? Where's the neighborhood creativity, and what can be done with these mounds?
