CurbedWire: Ashton's Art Deco, Bates Motel Hearing Moved

New, 8 comments

WILSHIRE CORRIDOR: A reader sends along some construction shots of the Ashton Wilshire, that 58-unit apartment building at 10700 Wilshire Boulevard. The developer here is Houston-based Hanover Company, the same company that did downtown's 717 Olympic and the Viridian on Wilshire, while the architect is GMP Architects, and the whole description of the project sounds like your typical luxury building. And info about the design per the architect's site: "The building's contemporary design meshes together classic Art Deco Moderne forms with modern materials and detailing including arced glass balcony rails, iridescent mosaic tiled accents and contemporary window walls." LOS ANGELES: For those who would like to chime in and voice an opinion about tearing--or keeping--the Bates Motel on Sunset: The hearing date before the Building and Safety Commissioners to consider tearing down the long- vacant motel has been changed to September 22, 2009. Previously, the hearing was scheduled for September 15th. [Curbed Inbox]
