Kappe On Kappe, Explaining His Pacific Palisades Home

Via Archinect, a video of architect Ray Kappe explaining the design of his own home. The house, built on a sloping lot over a series of streams, is in the Pacific Palisades and seems to float over the land. Kappe goes into some detail on the design process, including why he rejected handrails in the house, how his choice of redwood determined the width of the living room, and why the pool is adjacent to the roof deck. Sure to satisfy archi-nerds. With cameos by LivingHomes' Steve Glenn and architect Thom Mayne.
