New, 6 comments

The Hotel Bel-Air is closing for renovations in October, opening back up in 18-24 months, according to Professional Travel Guide.com. With the renovations, the 1946 hotel will add 12 villas and a new spa. More via PTG: "All 91 rooms and suites, the Champagne Bar, the restaurant and private dining rooms will be renovated. Interior designers David Rockwell and Alexandra Champalimaud are heading the refurbishment." It looks like Alexandra Champalimaud have done everything from The Carlyle in New York to the St. Regis Bejing, while designer/architect Rockwell has worked on the W Hotels. According to the Wrap, the hotel is owned by the Sultan of Brunei and managed by the Dorchester Group.
