Without Hollywood Sign, NYers Lost

And finally, the East Coasters weigh in on "500 Days of Summer," which has gotten so much local attention for being shot in downtown. Via the New Yorker: "For a movie about heartfelt connections, its characters have no depth or substance; for one about love, it has no chemistry or spontaneity; the action takes place in Los Angeles, though we see almost none of it..." And the New York Times: "At first, I mistook the city for Chicago or Philadelphia or some other old-growth conurbation.." We'll interpret this confusion to mean that downtown is largely undiscovered and hence, still has great real estate value. [New Yorker/NY Times]
