New To Market: Claude Oakland-Designed Eichler in Granada Hills

New, 7 comments

A couple of months ago we featured an Eichler tract home for sale in Granada Hills that looked like it might have been a bargain. The only problem was the lack of interior photos for that listing (now off the market). The opposite is true in this 1963 five-bedroom, two-bath nearby - fortunately there's plenty of eye candy here. This one was designed by the prolific but lesser known architect Claude Oakland, who built about 5,000 mid-century modern homes. The listing describes it thusly: "A clean-lined masonry facade sweeps serenely across the wide ridge site affording protection & privacy to the occupants & beauty born of artistic minimalism to the passerby. Sheltered from the street, inside all is bright, open & free of confinement." The house was last sold in 2001 for $305,000. Today's asking price: $765,000 or $354 per square foot for the 2,159 square foot property.
