Bringing Down The Berlin Wall--On Wilshire Boulevard

New, 8 comments

Calling all wall woodpeckers! Bring your sledgehammers! If you're too young to fondly recall the fall of the Berlin Wall, then Nov 8th is your chance to re-live one of the biggest milestones of the 20th Century. Just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its fall, the Berlin Wall on Wilshire Blvd, right in front of LACMA. Via ARTINFO, and a Los Angeles Times piece yesterday, news of the The Wall Project (as its been dubbed), will feature artists such as Shepard Fairey, muralist Kent Twitchell, museums such as LACMA and art schools like CalArts and the Otis College of Art and Design. There will be a reenactment of the destruction of the wall, to be streamed to Berlin live (where it will already be Nov 9th, the day the wall fell in 1989). A portion of the wall will remain on display from Oct 17th to Nov 14th. Naturally, a Facebook page has been created for the project. And here's the official site.
