New To Market: Mid-Century in Hollywood Hills

New, 27 comments

This 1962 Hollywood Hills home is notable for two reasons. One, the listing boasts of an "oversized 'party shower' with direct access to the outdoor deck." Cool. And also, ick. Two, while the house is now owned by a public relations executive, he bought it in 2005 after the drug overdose of actor Robert Pastorelli, who so memorably played Murphy Brown's house painter in the TV series.

But houses with a history of a Hollywood actor overdosing are a dime a dozen in this town. So this one comes with a bonus death. It seems right before Pastorelli's death, the LAPD had recently re-opened an investigation into the 1999 shooting death of his girlfriend, Charemon Jonovich. Apparently after Pastorelli's death, Jonovich's shooting was ruled a homocide. But if you're blase about murder and drugs, and in need of an oversized party shower, this two-bedroom, one-and-three-quarters- bath house also has an open floor plan, a remodeled kitchen, fireplace, and a large deck with views of the Hollywood sign and the Observatory. Last sold in 2005 for $860,000 (Pastorelli bought it in 1989 for $487,000), today's asking price is $1.095 million or $634 per square foot.
