The developers behind the Solair Wilshire, that hulking aqua-green Wilshire Boulevard project that opened for move-ins earlier this year, just announced they have hired Harry Dubin (the same guy that did the Rob Clark in Hollywood) to do sales and marketing, and are holding a one-day sale on August 1st that'll see prices drop 30 percent across all units. Condos used to range from $800,000 to $2.8 million, and now a 1,300-square foot unit that was $819,000 will be $570,000, while a 1,600 square foot unit that was $1.2 million will be $853,000 (all this info comes from the new sales team). Asked if there would be any negotiating after August 1st (the sale actually lasts 48 hours), Dubin said, "No." He also said the building is 42 percent reserved. Given that the Mercury recently dropped prices, Solair is probably feeling the pressure. They've got a lotta units to move.
