DOWNTOWN: Ah, the LA Live parking lot is growing up so quickly. Just a plot of dirt last month, the privately-owned lot (meaning that AEG doesn't own it) was once the site of the Baker Hotel. The site for the AEG's planned and mysterious hotel is immediately to the right, away from downtown. [Curbed Staff]
LOS ANGELES: Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa just issued a release speaking out against the California Legislature’s proposal to gut $72 million from the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). Someone wants to protect those jobs! Here's the quote from the presser: "“More than ever, redevelopment projects are needed to bring jobs to Los Angeles and to protect affordable housing,” Mayor Villaraigosa said. “If these devastating cuts occur, the State is not just taking $72 million away from our poorest neighborhoods -- it is destroying the foundation we have built for economic recovery in this City. A hit of this magnitude undermines new investments in infrastructure, job creation and the green economy.” [Curbed InBox]
