At last week's Planning Commission meeting that considered allowing more advertising on and around downtown's convention center, Planning Commission President William Roschen basically said: "This proposal is totally unacceptable in its current state, and we want a total redesign and we have no idea what the end result will look like, but we're gonna push this through anyway!" If you listened to the meeting or attended it, you also know that new city attorney Carmen Trutanich sent a letter, asking that the Commission delay the vote, which of course, they didn't. Here comes Carmen and he's angry! Of course, some may argue that our newly elected attorney should have come to the meeting himself to make his case, but now he's throwing around words like aiding and abetting, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Good times. Via the Los Angeles Times' Maeve Reston: "Newly elected Los Angeles City Atty. Carmen Trutanich has sent a blistering letter to city planners who approved a billboard plan over his objections last week, stating that by "acting in haste, for no apparent reason," they "undermined and jeopardized" the work of his office." And an excerpt of the letter: "Please be advised that there are limits to the discretion and governmental immunities that you enjoy as public officials," he wrote. "I will not hesitate to act in the future if it appears that you are aiding and abetting unlawful conduct despite my contrary advice." According to the paper, commissioners couldn't be reached for comment.
