Smart Dollhouse

New, 4 comments

Mod Blog points us to NewScientist's look at InterHome, a smart house project that may change the way we live. InterHome debuted a dollhouse last week rigged up with their technology--it's powered by a central computer and infrared sensors and can adjust the light, heat, and air conditioning depending on where people are in the house. But the big innovation here is that it learns and responds to inhabitants' behaviors, and performs unprovoked actions like texting you if you forget to lock the door on your way out. Hey, remember that Simpsons Tree House of Horror episode when Marge buys an automated house voiced by Pierce Brosnan and it tries to kill Homer? That's a good one. [Mod Blog, NewScientist, image via]
